چکیده

Glass ionomer cements (GICs) are commonly used as restorative materials. Th e eff ect of GICs on diff erent cell types varies. Stem cells from Human Exfoliated Deciduous teeth, SHED are a source for dental tissue regeneration. Th e necrosis and infl ammation that eventually follows necrosis can disturb this regenerative process. We tested seven GICs including Fuji I, Fuji II, Fuji VIII, Fuji IX, Fuji plus, Fuji triage and Vitrebond for their necrotic induction potential in human SHEDs. We also correlated these eff ects with eluate fl uoride release. Th e toxicity of GICs was tested via a lactate dehydrogenase assay and fl ow cytoReceived / Primljen: 03. 05. 2011. Cytotoxic effects of glass ionomer cements on human dental pulp stem cells correlate with fluoride release.

OBJECTIVES Glass ionomer cements (GICs) are commonly used as restorative materials. Responses to GICs differ among cell types and it is therefore of importance to thoroughly investigate the influence of these restorative materials on pulp stem cells that are potential source for dental tissue regeneration. Eight biomaterials were tested: Fuji I, Fuji II, Fuji VIII, Fuji IX, Fuji Plus, Fuji Tria...

Tannin-fluoride preparation attenuates prostaglandin E2 production by dental pulp cells.

Glass ionomer cements (GICs) are widely used for the operative restoration of dental caries. However, it has been reported that the components of GICs cause pulpal inflammatory responses. Recently, GICs containing tannin-fluoride preparation (HY agent) were developed. In this study, we investigated the effect of HY agent on prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) release from GIC-stimulated rat dental pulp cel...

Comparison of the Amount of Fluoride Release from Nanofilled Resin Modified Glass Ionomer, Conventional and Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cements

OBJECTIVE To investigate and compare the amount of fluoride release of conventional, resin modified and nanofilled resin modified glass ionomer cements. MATERIALS AND METHODS Tablets of glass-ionomer cements were immersed in deionized water and incubated at 37°C. After 1, 2, 7, 15 and 30 days, fluoride ion was measured under normal atmospheric conditions by fluoride ion selective electrode. B...

Comparative Evaluation of the Remineralizing Effects and Surface Microhardness of Glass Ionomer Cements

Glass ionomer cements (GICs) are widely used in restorative dentistry.1 In dentistry, one of their advantages over other restorative materials is that they can be placed into tooth cavities without an additional bonding agent.2 They also possess a fluoride-releasing property3 and are relatively biocompatible with the pulp.1 Adhesive property and fluoride release of glass ionomer cement contribu...

Long-term fluoride release from resin-reinforced orthodontic cements following recharge with fluoride solution.

The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that there is no difference in the fluoride release behavior of resin-reinforced glass ionomer cements before or after fluoride recharge. The materials were divided into 5 groups: 2 resin-reinforced glass ionomer cements used for attaching orthodontic bands, that is, group FOB (Fuji Ortho Band) and group MCB (Multi-Cure Glass Ionomer Orthodontic ...
